Max 

Max – Max is one of the happiest, most affectionate dogs in our program. He’s loving, active, and obedient, and he’s always ready for hugs, pets, or a good game of fetch. When he retrieves, he goes after the bumper hard and fast, bringing it back with a big smile like he just won something important.

Max has a joyful way about him that makes him stand out. When he sees me at the fence, he does a little dance with his front feet—almost like a quick trot in place—while wearing a full, ear-to-ear smile. And when he hugs, he uses his entire body. He’ll lean his right side, then his left, then his backside, like he wants to make sure I know how happy he is to be getting attention.

He’s very protective of his girls, which has shaped much of his personality as a stud. Over time he will be paired with Luna, Pinky, Laverne, Joanie, and Shirley, and he treats every one of them with patience and gentleness. The females love him, and he gives that affection right back.

With other male Goldens, Max is different. His protective nature means he does not tolerate competition from other males, especially when females are nearby. He has a strong territorial drive and is a confident stud dog, which is a role Max takes seriously.

He’s a dog who loves his life here, takes pride in his place in the hierarchy, and brings a lot of enthusiasm, warmth, and personality to the program. We’re excited to see the future he helps build at Big Lake Goldens.
